Last year Steve had a blast when he took part in the mud-filled Nuclear Blast event at the Kelvedon Hatch Nuclear Bunker site. Now he’s ready to take part in another challenge at the same venue and looking forward to this year’s Nuclear Fallout.
Keen marathon runner Alistair will be completing the Jungfrau Marathon in Switzerland, a popular but gruelling race that sees athletes climbing 5,960 feet from the base at Interlaken to the finish line at Kleine Scheidegg mountain pass.
We’re only halfway through 2017, but the year has already been noteworthy for a number of milestones for SNAP. In particular, May was a standout month as SNAP celebrated two firsts.
More than 30 pre-school children were treated to a range of activities including face painting, arts and crafts, as well as songs from one of SNAP’s resident musicians Maggie. Firm favourites among the guests were the springy fun of the bouncy castle in SNAP’s specially designed outdoor play area, and the messy fun of cake and biscuit decorating!

With just a couple of days to go to the 19th annual Birketts’ Race4Business – this year supporting SNAP – here’s a look at those community-minded organisations helping to provide life-changing assistance to Essex families affected by disability.

A trio of talented musical groups will be helping runners to hit the right note as they tackle the 3.5 mile Birketts’ Race4Business on 15th June in Chelmsford, raising money for SNAP. Hop-ing to spur the runners over the finishing line is The Frog Island Jazz Band playing their classic 1920s and ’30s New Orleans Jazz.
Volunteers are at the heart of all charities, and are an essential part of ensuring support can be given to those in need. It can be a mutually beneficial experience as volunteering brings benefits to both the person volunteering and the people and organisations that they help.
“HAVING somewhere to go where she can be effortlessly Ava is a gift.” That is how mum Liz Chaplin sums up SNAP, the charity that has been helping her severely disabled daughter for the past eight years.
