Children’s Activities

SNAP runs a number of different activity sessions for families with a primary school aged child with additional needs. It is a chance for parents to chat with each other, use the specialist library and speak to SNAP parent advisers. Call the helpline for further information on 01277 211300

Yoga Groovettes

For girls with special needs aged 8 to 12 years

Led by an experienced yoga instructor, this session promotes healthy exercise, relaxation and increased confidence through yoga based games. It is a chance for the girls to have fun and make new friends, whilst building strength, flexibility and coordination. Parents can relax together, use the library or speak to a parent adviser. Siblings are welcome to use the facilities upstairs while the session is running.

Drama Club

For children with special needs aged 8 to 12 years

This course gives the opportunity to develop social and communication skills. The sessions focus on developing their self-esteem, confidence and imagination through games, role play, art and physical exercises. Parents can relax together, use the library or speak to a parent adviser. Siblings are welcome to use the facilities upstairs while the session is running.

SNAPTASTIC

For families with primary school aged children with special needs and their siblings.

This relaxed after school session gives the children the opportunity to use all of the centres specialist facilities as well as choose from a variety of toys, games and craft activities. During the sessions parents/carers can have fun with their children, relax with other parents, use the library or speak to a parent adviser.

Stay ‘n’ Play

For families with children of school age with special needs and their siblings.

These popular sessions run at various times during the school holidays and must be booked in advance. The children have the opportunity to use all of the centres specialist facilities as well as choose from a variety of toys, games and craft activities. During the sessions parents/carers can have fun with their children, relax with other parents, use the library or speak to a parent adviser.

Sensorise

For families with children with more profound and complex special needs and their siblings.

This holiday session provides a stimulating, interactive and sensory experience using art, music and multi-sensory equipment for children with more complex needs. During the sessions parents/carers can have fun with their children, relax with other parents, use the library or speak to a parent adviser.
