Ride to the rescue

Join SNAP and take part in a new nationwide campaign that gives you a fun opportunity to raise vital funds and ensure we can continue to be here for families across Essex. Created by the Prudential RideLondon organisers, you can pop on your wheels to take up this challenge to support SNAP.

What is it?

Over the weekend of the 15th and 16th August 2020 the nation will be raising money atop some wheels in this wonderful event.

Get on your bike, wheelchair, scooter, skateboard, trike, balance bike, tandem, unicycle, roller skates – basically anything with wheels – to support SNAP and help raise vital funds.

You choose the challenge! Want to replicate the Prudential RideLondon event? You can do that! Want to skate around the garden instead? Go for it! or how about a skills challenge instead of a distance challenge? You can do those to!

Want to get involved? Here’s what you need to do…

1) Get in touch with us and register your place

We’d love to hear from you and be able to support you in your fundraising, simply contact us on 01277 245345 or email [email protected]. Once you’ve done this you’ll need to register your place with the organisers at myridelondon.co.uk.

2) Set up your own fundraising page or make a donation

If you would like to set up your own fundraising page so that you can collect sponsorship from your friends and family for your challenge, you can raise funds on JustGiving or Virgin Giving. You can then share this page with your friends and family to show them how you’ll be supporting your favourite charity and why they should donate. Don’t want to use these platforms? No problem! We’re on Facebook too.

If you’d prefer to take part by completing a challenge and making a donation yourself, you can do this through our donation page.

Some more information about the Prudential event:

The Prudential courses:

The Prudential event traditionally has three tracks:

  • 19 miles
  • 46 miles
  • 100 miles

Why don’t you take on one of these traditional distances? There’s even an app you can download so that your friends and family can track your progress as if you were doing the event in London. They’ll also be able to donate in support your brilliant efforts! (This feature is only compatible with the Virgin Money Giving platform).

Choose your own distance:

Don’t want to do the above distances? Choose your own challenge!

We welcome everyone to choose the best challenge for them, from a 100 mile bike ride to a lap around the garden. Pick your challenge, support SNAP and have fun!

The Prudential App

Just before the event weekend of 15th and 16th August, you’ll be able to download the My Prudential RideLondon app – from there you can track and log your ride.

Other challenges:

If a distance challenge isn’t for you why not try a skills based challenge. Need some ideas? why not try:

  • 60 seconds balancing on a unicycle
  • Completing an assault course on your Roller-skates
  • 5 kickflips on your skateboard
  • 10 seconds doing a wheelie
  • 30 doughnuts on your trike

It’s completely up to you! All you need are some wheels and an idea. We would love to hear what you come up with so make sure you let us know how you’re getting involved.

Please be careful and take all safety precautions when attempting a challenge.

“I’ve really been getting into cycling during lock-down so when I saw this event I thought it was the perfect way to support SNAP!”

“My son is going to make an obstacle course to race around on his Rollerblades. Everyone who donates submits a time they think he can complete it in. The closest time wins a prize! – It’s a great opportunity to keep active and support SNAP. My son can’t wait for race day!”
