Overview
Safe Steps is a specialist domestic abuse support provider, delivering services in Southend, Thurrock, and other areas of Essex. They offer a range of community services to support women, men, young people and children to rebuild their lives after domestic abuse.
They run several projects within the organisation:
- Dove – for adults requiring advocacy, crisis support and recovery programmes.
- Break The Cycle – for victims aged 13-19yrs experiencing abusive relationships
- Fledglings – for Child and Family recovery support
Dove focuses on the specific needs of women, providing 24-hour telephone crisis support, a drop-in service and counselling. They also have a refuge which provides safe accommodation to over 80 women and children.
Break the Cycle (BTC) is a service for young people aged between 13-19 years old which aims to promote and educate young people on healthy relationships.
Fledglings provides a domestic abuse recovery service for the non-abusing parents/carers and children and young people (CYP), from the age of 5, who have been exposed to domestic violence.
Safe Steps also provide a male domestic abuse support and advice service.
