VoiceAbility – Speak Out Essex
Working with Essex County Council to improve services for autistic people.
Overview
VoiceAbility provides advocacy specifically for people with long-term conditions such as mental health conditions, dementia or a learning disability.
It is an independent charity and one of the UK’s largest providers of advocacy and involvement services.
Speak Out is a self-advocacy arm of the charity in local areas for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
Speak Out Essex is working as a co-production partner with Essex County Council for the All Age Autism Partnership Board.
The Essex All Age Autism Partnership Board looks at issues which affect autistic people, like these:
- diagnosis
- accommodation
- employment
- education
- training
Speak Out Leaders, facilitators and volunteers are part of working groups. Everyone in the groups work together as equals to come up with suggestions for how to improve services for autistic people.
