The Disabled Children’s Short Breaks and Outreach Service (SBOR) is a service for disabled children and their families based in three locations; The Sunshine Centre in Tilbury, Hannah’s Place based in Treetops School and out in the community.
Overview
The Disabled Children’s Short Breaks and Outreach Service (SBOR) is a service for disabled children and their families based in three locations; The Sunshine Centre in Tilbury, Hannah’s Place based in Treetops School and out in the community. The service is part of the Team for Disabled Children and links professionals from health and education within Thurrock Council.
The Short Breaks and Outreach Service offer a range of groups and services for children and young people from the age of 4 to 18 years who live in Thurrock. They support families within their home or community and also provide activity clubs (see website for a full listing of clubs). In addition, as part of the short breaks and local offer, they also provide sessions during school breaks including a four week summer play-scheme.
They also have three befriending groups for children and young people from 8 years to 18 years. The befriending service enables small groups of children to access community based activities, promoting their independence and confidence.
