NHS 111 Service
NHS 111 can help if you have an urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do. The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Overview
NHS 111 Service is a non-emergency number for advice and information from a highly trained adviser, supported by experienced nurses and paramedics.
The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.
They will ask questions to assess your symptoms, then give the healthcare advice needed or direct to the local service that can help best. That could be A&E, an out-of-hours doctor, an urgent care or walk-in centre, a community nurse, an emergency dentist or a late-opening chemist.
Where possible the NHS 111 team will book an appointment or transfer directly to the person you need to speak to.
If the NHS 111 adviser thinks an ambulance is needed they will immediately arrange for one to be sent.
