SUMMIT – Autism Navigation Service
Autism navigation support for adults and families across Essex, Thurrock and Southend.
Overview
Supporting autistic adults and families through the diagnostic process from the beginning and beyond.
SUMMIT offers a professional advocacy and support navigation service for adults living in Essex, Thurrock or Southend. They are independent and work solely on the behalf of the people that use the service, ensuring there is no conflict of interest with funders and other service providers.
They support people who may have been referred for an assessment of autism, helping them to engage in the process and ensuring their voice is heard. Whilst people are waiting for a diagnosis they can work in partnership with them to help resolve any problems they may be experiencing now in their day to day lives.
SUMMIT also supports people who may have recently been diagnosed and are experiencing barriers accessing the services they need to lead a better life. They also provide information and guidance to families of people aged 16+ and facilitate support groups.
The Autism Navigator Service is funded by the NHS and Essex County Council.
