Sailship Training & Learning for Life

Life and work skills training for adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health support needs.

Overview

Situated in the centre of Clacton-on-Sea, Sailship Training and Learning for Life (Sailship TLL) is a charity offering Work Skills Training/Vocational Enterprise and Social/Therapeutic/life skills provisions.

Sailship TLL caters for learning disabled adults and/or adults who have a mental health support need, aged 18+ who wish to develop work skills and life skills, towards further training, employment or volunteering – and for others, affords opportunity for social interaction and psychological health improvements through its social and therapeutic provisions.

The project offers two streams of opportunity:

Vocational Learning:  Horticultural Training, Cottage Industry Crafts Skills Training, Kitchen Crafts Skills and Retail Distribution, via the running of vocational enterprises dedicated to creating quality items for sale to the community and via online retail, to the public at large, with the opportunity to follow an ASDAN Employability Accredited Course, supported by trained Learning Supports and qualified Tutors who offer a wealth of experience.

Social and Therapeutic Activities:  Participation in crafting activities and Kitchen Crafts and in particular, Horticulture- following the ‘Thrive’ Quality Assurance Scheme, offering positive outcomes for learning enhancement, psychological health, social interaction/communication and social inclusion and supported by trained Learning Supports and qualified Tutors.
