SEND Careers Advice Team – Mid Essex
The SEND Careers Advice Service helps young people with an EHCP get ready for adult life.
Overview
Formerly known as the Preparing for Adulthood Team, the SEND Careers Advice Service give young people information, advice, and guidance about their options. They ensure they have the information they need to make decisions about their future.
For example after leaving school they could go to college, apply for an apprenticeship, or look for a job.
The SEND Careers Advisor will ask the young person and others who know them well what they like and what they are good at.
The service is available to a young person aged 14 to 25 with SEND who has a current Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or Higher Needs Funding.
In year 9, a SEND Careers Advisor will write to the young person to introduce themselves.
From year 10, the advisor will meet with them to explore their options and paths they might take.
The Mid Essex service covers those who live in Braintree, Chelmsford, Halstead and Maldon.
