Invisible Lives (formerly Essex CAPI)

Invisible Lives is a Barnardo’s service, supporting young people at risk of hidden harms and vulnerabilities including drugs, gangs, knife crimes and youth offending. It also supports families affected by parental imprisonment.

Overview

Invisible Lives is a Barnardo’s service, supporting young people at risk of hidden harms and vulnerabilities including drugs, gangs, knife crimes and youth offending.

They provide early intervention and prevention programmes along with 1:1 mentoring.

The service aims to educate, support and increase confidence and self-esteem for children and young people experiencing trauma and poor mental health and well-being as a result of their situation.

Formerly known as CAPI – Children Affected By Parental Imprisonment, Invisible Lives has expanded beyond its original purpose to support and advise families affected by a family member going through the criminal justice system but continues to offer home, community and school support to children, young people and families, and works closely with the police, courts, prisons and other criminal justice service agencies.
