Employment Retention Service

Essex Partnership University NHS Trust (EPUT) work in partnership with Employ-Ability. The service has been in operation since 1992 and exits to support those whose jobs are at risk because of their mental ill health. The team operates in West and South Essex (with the exclusion of Southend and Thurrock) on behalf of EPUT. They work in collaboration with secondary services and primary care networks.

Overview

The Employment Retention service support their clients on a range of issues such as:

• Negotiate a phased return to work following sickness absence due to being off sick with mental health issues
• Support individuals decide how, when and if to disclose mental ill health to their employer
• Provide support for the individual and with consent from the individual, liaise with their employer
• Guidance on occupational health reviews and reports
• Grievances and disciplinary procedures
• Negotiate reasonable adjustments at work to support with mental health
• Provide pathways to other services e.g. ACAS, benefits advice and other support agencies
• Help support individuals to decide whether to stay or leave their current employment
• Job exits and referrals onto our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) partners to help individuals find new employment.
