Although the children enjoy the activities, I have benefited so much from being able to talk to other parents and access support for me.

It is such a warm and friendly place and we can sit and relax with a coffee knowing both children are so happy - we never get a chance to do this anywhere else.

Enjoying the bear-nefits of SNAP

The SNAP Centre was taken over by an army of bears* on Monday 10th July as SNAP's annual Teddy Bear's Picnic took place.

More than 30 pre-school children were treated to a range of activities including face painting, arts and crafts, as well as songs from one of SNAP's resident musicians Maggie.

Firm favourites among the guests were the springy fun of the bouncy castle in SNAP's specially designed outdoor play area, and the messy fun of cake and biscuit decorating! The children were also able to use the centre's IT suite and multi-sensory room, while parents and carers could catch up with each other, talk to members of the family team and access SNAP's specialist library.

Alison Tama, one of SNAP's Family Support Advisers was delighted to see so many happy children and their bears.

"The Teddy Bear's Picnic is SNAP's end of term party for our younger children. And for some of them it is the last term time pre-school session before they start school. We aim to make it a real celebration and it is a lovely event for families, volunteers and the SNAP team."

Jade Preston brought her three-year-old son (pictured) who was full of smiles during the afternoon.

"We had lots of fun! Theo loved getting his face painted, going on the bouncy castle and making new friends."

The team are now making the final preparations for the beach themed Summer Disco which celebrates the end of term time for SNAP's young people (12+).
