HAVERING COLLEGE ROSE PROGRAMME (Realistic Opportunities for Supported Employment) aims to improve the quality of life for people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. ROSE works with clients living in the London Borough of Havering, or who attend Havering College of Further and Higher Education. The initiative places people with learning disabilities into paid employment and supports them until that person can independently sustain their employment alone. It offers an individual service to each client and sources the right form of employment for them. Job coaches then support the client in the workplace until both client and employer are confident with the role.

LINKED EMPLOYMENT is a specialist supported employment agency for people with a learning disability who would like to find a job paid at the going rate. Linked Employment has placed people into jobs in a variety of settings ranging from office, shop and factory work, catering, and childcare. This is done by matching the skills of the person with the requirements of the job and providing the necessary support in order for it to work successfully. Referrals to Linked Employment come via a social worker only.

CIRCLES OF SUPPORT

CIRCLES OF SUPPORT is a project in the Essex area that aims to provide individually tailored personal support for young people aged between 15 and 20 with a learning disability, as they make the journey through the difficult transition between school and adult life. A client will be supported by roughly 6 peer group volunteers and a paid mentor will assist them in overcoming the challenges that they face and gaining access to the opportunities that are available to them. The Circles of Support project covers the Braintree and Chelmsford areas.

OUT & ABOUT is a charity which enables disabled children and young people aged 5 to 18 (25 with direct payments) access to everyday leisure activities throughout the east of England. TRAVEL TRAINING is designed to help people get more from life by giving them the confidence to travel independently. Trainers will accompany trainees on their journeys, providing encouragement and guidance to those clients who have behavioural difficulties, physical difficulties or additional needs to enable them to use public transport services. They can help prepare participants for travel on any specific journey – perhaps to work, school, further education or a training opportunity and help is also available on walking routes. Travel Training is by referral only.
