AFASIC is the UK charity representing children and young adults with communication impairments, working for their inclusion in society and supporting their parents and carers. The helpline is open 10.30am to 2.30pm weekdays.

Afasic has a club in Redbridge where a warm welcome is extended to young people aged 11 to 19 years with speech and language impairments, their siblings and friends. THE STARFISH PROJECT

THE STARFISH PROJECT is a non-profit making project for training young people aged 12 to 18 years and adults who stammer or stutter to both control and gain confidence over something that has controlled them. Training on all Starfish courses is on a one-to-one basis, given by recovering stammerers. It combines compassion and care, to teach successful methods of diaphragmatic retraining (costal breathing), avoidance reduction therapy and positive attitude development.
