ABILITYNET

ABILITYNET is a national charity whose aim is to make the benefits of using computers available to disabled children and adults. Through its network of centres, AbilityNet provides specialist help for people with a disability to enable them to use a computer at home, in education or in employment. A helpline is available from 9am to 5pm each weekday, but is closed for lunch from 12:30pm to 1:30pm daily. A series of courses and workshops are run on the potential of computers to empower disabled people, and professionals in health, education and special needs.

ADAPT-IT

ADAPT-IT caters specifically for the computer needs of adults and children with varying disabilities including learning difficulties, mobility problems, dyslexia and visual impairment. John Shanley gives one to one tuition in an individual's home and can also offer advice to parents in the selection and purchase of equipment and software. COMPUTERS FOR THE DISABLED is a charity which supplies PCs to disabled people, disabled care homes, centres, the housebound and the elderly, and makes no profit out of any PC supplied. Computers for the Disabled has a helpline which is open seven days a week from 9am to 7pm; advises people on best buys; and is able to build PCs for many people free of charge.
